Semaglutide; My take on Medical Weight Management.

Medical Weight Loss Management is a HOT TOPIC right now. It’s no secret that Hollywoods biggest celebrities like the Kardashians have been taking Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Semaglutide to shed unwanted pounds.

There is alot of controversy about the drugs and their use for weightless. The purpose of this is to share my personal experience, I am not giving medical advice. Always consult with a Health Care Professional before making any decisions.

I had been STUCK at certain weight and no matter what I did my weight wasn’t budging and I was so uncomfortable in my own skin. I almost felt like my body NEEDED to carry a little less weight. I felt bloated, inflamed and overall sluggish.

I have been reading articles about Ozempic, some were promising, some were scary, I wasn’t sure if it was safe or if I was even a candidate as I really only wanted to loose a little bit of weight, 10 lbs at most. I have always had a very negative relationship with the scale. I struggle with moderate to severe body dysmorphia and at one point I was weighing myself about 6 times per day. In the morning, after I ate or drank anything during the day and then again at night.

I was seeing so many amazing posts from Babe Aesthetics highlighting patient before and afters and sharing general information. I called and scheduled a virtual consultation and based on my medical history I was a candidate pending review of my blood work. After my blood work came back all good I had the green light.

This is an OOP expense and the cost is determined by how long you take the medication. I personally know so many women with medical necessity who couldn’t get the insurance coverage - so they went this route.

Michaela at Babe Asthetic spent time going over every detail of what to expect. She told me that most patients can experience moderate Gastrointestinal discomfort, and some fatigue associated with experiencing a calorie deficit as a result of a suppressed appetite. This medication is taken as a once weekly injection that is painless and super easy to administer.

I started off in June and the first 2 weeks is a super low dose just to introduce it to your body. After 2 weeks the dose went up, but still is very low and conservative. I stayed on that dose for 8 weeks. It took about 4 weeks to notice a suppressed appetite and 5-6 weeks to notice a physical change.

I did decide NOT to weigh myself through out this journey because I am trying to focus more on how I look, feel, and how my clothing fit opposed to a number on the scale. After around week 10 I went up in dosage slightly for another 4 -6 weeks. Then I went back down for 4 weeks, and then stopped taking the medication.

All in all I had almost zero symptoms. I did not experience any GI distress, I had one incident but I think I had food poisoning (questionable Swordfish). I did experice fatigue around month 3. I definitely was run down as a result of being in such a calorie deficit. I was probably consuming around 500-600 calories per day - I did make sure to eat high protein, take vitamin supplements and drink TONS of water. I did stop strength training for a bit as I did not have the energy for it. I did go back to the gym and resume training during the last month I was on the medication.

I have been off of Semaglutide for 5 months and I have not gained any weight. I still fit in all the new clothes I bought.

All in all for me this was a good experience. When I ate I prioritized protein, and I kept my body moving. I feel much better carrying around a little less weight and other than manageable fatigue, I had no negative side effects.

I know that some people will call it lazy, vain, irresponsible and or judge me and others and that’s OK. It is my body and I made a decision for me. I don’t regret it, I feel better than ever. I know that not everyone has this experience and some people do have negative and at times dangerous side effects and I don't take that lightly!

I highly recommend Babe Aesthetics for medical weight management program - in office or online! Inquire today about how Semaglutide, Phentermine, Tirzepatide, or Super Lipo Lean Injections can help you lose weight.
